Ten weeks smoke-free - Hayley’s story

Hayley self-referred to the Quit Smoking Stoke service after struggling with anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, and asthma. Having never attempted to quit before, Hayley found herself smoking over 20 roll-ups a day, caught in a cycle of stress and cravings and decided she wanted a change.

“I was really nervous about contacting the service. I’d never quit before and didn’t know what to expect. I felt embarrassed and worried I’d be judged, but I couldn’t have been more wrong. My Health Coach was amazing, she listened to me, understood my situation, and helped me find the right support.

Quit Smoking Stoke offers free, personalised support to help individuals quit smoking in a way that suits their lifestyle and needs. Whether through one-to-one coaching, nicotine replacement therapies, or e-cigarette support, the service provides practical tools and emotional encouragement to help people break free from tobacco.

“We decided to try an e-cigarette, which I’d never used before. I haven’t looked back since. The weekly calls gave me the motivation I needed, and my Health Coach went above and beyond, even helping me order the e-cig online because I’m not confident with technology. She took away all the added stress and made me feel like someone genuinely cared about my journey.

“The cravings were tough at first, and some days were really hard. But I kept tobacco out of the house and relied on my e-cig. My husband decided to quit with me, which helped a lot. Now, I’m ten weeks smoke-free and I feel amazing.”

“I’ve saved so much money, which has really helped with Christmas and looking after my children. I’m determined to stay smoke-free, not just for me, but for them. I’m so grateful to Quit Smoking Stoke for their support. I couldn’t have done it without them”
